The big storylines coming out of week 14 revolve around the division leaders solidifying their positions… with the exception of Arizona and Baltimore. The Cardinals loss to LA is not concerning to me. The Raven’s however are in trouble.

Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the league, but their injury situation is dismal. Jackson’s ankle injury is the last straw. I dropped them to the lowest ranking of the season, below Cleveland and Cincy.

Josh Allen looked good enough in the second half against Tampa to keep them from dropping. They are definitely in the danger zone, but for now I think they are still better than anyone in the AFC except KC and New England.

After all the up-n-downs we are clearly in the part of the season where teams are starting to find their stride and show true colors. I suspect the markets will tighten up and we’ll see some consistency from the contenders in the final playoff push.

What the Hell?

A couple teams are very difficult to figure out.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas has consistently worked their way up the power rankings led by a great offense. They have the NFC East all wrapped and boast an awesome 10-3 ATS record. But… Dak hasn’t looked good since his calf injury and the offense is clearly struggling.

The thing is… the Cowboys defense is looking strong, led by a dominating front seven. They remind me of the 2011 Giants, who’s defense came on strong after Thanksgiving and dominated the playoffs.

Cincinatti Bengals

I like Joe Burrow and they have some very good players, but the Bengals are the most inconsistent team in the NFL. Incredibly they are 6-6 ATS, which seems impossible. I’ve been on them several times this season… only to watch them set fire to my cash before halftime.

The Bengals are the best team in the AFC North, right now. Can they perform to that level? Based on what we’ve seen so far, I don’t think so.

They are not polished enough to win the Super Bowl, but they’re capable of playing with & beating AFC contenders in the playoffs.

About the Power Rankings

These are my rankings based on a weighted sum of overall team efficiency and coaching relative to other NFL teams. I manually adjust the rankings after each week of games based on analysis of live action and stats.

I take into account and try to interpret betting perception based on bookmaker lines and how they move from opening to the closing number.

Injuries are in important factor and can effect the ratings. I update the ratings daily, which is not always reflected on this webpage.

Covid is very difficult to factor in. For now, I treat it just like an injury.
