Each year the NFL and Twitter get together and update each teams \u201cofficial\u201d emoji hashtag for the upcoming season.  Some hashtags change year-to-year, while others are always the same.   In 2022 – We have two changes… so far. Arizona and Washington both with terrible choices. Read below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolina Panthers (#KeepPounding)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is one of my favorites because I can always remember it and it never changes.  Panther fans are easily one the the best groups on twitter. A little extra – Did you know KeepPounding refers to Sam Mills courageous battle with cancer.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chicago Bears (#DaBears)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

DaBears is a classic and everybody knows it.  Don\u2019t overlook #BearDown for the more serious fans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffalo Bills (#BillsMafia)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Greatness!   This is how it\u2019s done.  The Bills fanbase is right up there with the Browns when it comes to Twitter.   They\u2019ll follow and engage with everyone.   #BillsMafia on gameday is straight fire.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#BillsMafia is very popular, you might have better reach with #GoBills on game day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Jets (#TakeFlight)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

TakeFlight is average, which is better than some of their previous hashtags, but they share it some off-brand in Dallas basketball team.   Why not #Jets, it’s perfect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Vegas Raiders (#RaiderNation)<\/h3>\n\n\n

Patriot fans and haters all pile on this hashtag.  Bring a strong opinion and you\u2019ll get a lot action both ways.  Wonder what Bill Belichick thinks about hashtags?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas City Chiefs (#ChiefsKingdom)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Top shelf tag here.  Even better\u2026 Chiefs\u2019 fans are some  of the best on social media.  Fun, smart, and willing to engage everyone.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miami Dolphins (#FinsUp)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Miami has a big national following that gives everyone plenty of engagement juice.  #Fins4Life is another great hashtag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacksonville Jaguars (#DUUUVAL)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fun funs, terrible hashtag.  Is that 4 U\u2019s or 3 U\u2019s?  God I hope autofill is on point. #Jaguars gets a decent amount of activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indianapolis Colts (#ForTheShoe)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I see a lot disgust for this one, but I love it.  Indy has a big audience on twitter, don\u2019t forgot about #ColtsNation and #Colts. My favorite source for everything Colts is Stephen Burton at No Horsing Around<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Football Team (#HTTC)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The only thing worse than the Commanders… is the #HTTC hashtag. At least its short. Bonus: Whoever runs WFT’s twitter account is throwing heat during games… definitely a worth a follow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco 49ers (#FTTB)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I guess you can go for a regional tag, but FTTB is awful for several reasons.  Most of all it\u2019s got nothing to do with the actual team. #49ers gets a lot of interaction, drop it in your tweets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tennessee Titans (#Titans)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we get a straight up team name as the tag.  Sure everyone likes some cute\/creative, but for NFL content creators and marketers #Titans is welcome moment of bliss. Tennessee fans quick to engage and discuss anything Titans related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denver Broncos (#BroncosCountry)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the thing.  #BroncosCountry autofills quickly to the emoji hashtag and that\u2019s always great when the team or city is the first word of the hashtag.  Denver\u2019s twitter crowd is passionate and fun to interact with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green Bay Packers (#GoPackGo)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Greatness.  Consistent, Relevant and Easy.  Maximum bonus for using the actually battle cry of fans in the stands. The Pack has a big following nationwide and you can get some action with #Packers, #GreenBayPackers, #GreenBay or even target the hardcore crowd with #Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (#GoBucs)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Interesting year for the Buc\u2019s twitter presence.  #GoBucs is solid, but Tampa fans don\u2019t drive much action on twitter.   Try targeting hashtags for individual players mentioned in your content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baltimore Ravens (#RavensFlock)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Baltimore has one of the best fanbases on Twitter.  #RavensFlock is full of juice.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Giants (#TogetherBlue)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a little too vague for me, especially when you can find more engaging fans at #NYGiants.  Although not officially sanctioned\u2026 #18and1 is the greatest single hashtag in the NFL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnesota Vikings (#SKOL)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Everything about #SKOL is badass.  The Vikings fanbase doesn\u2019t quite live up to the standard set by the #SKOL hashtag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Cardinals (#BirdCityFootball)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly active fanbase out there in Arizona. Unfortunately they can\u2019t seem to come up with a decent hashtag, and this year is the worst yet – WTF! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the CrapCityHashtag you need to follow @AZCardinals twitter account… they bring the dry<\/em> heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta Falcons (#DirtyBirds)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The dirty bird is always jacking around with some form of RiseUP, but this year the DirtyBirds are back… a sign of good things to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philadelphia Eagles (#FlyEaglesFly)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I love the passion that comes with this one.  #FlyEaglesFly and fanbase engagement are both top-shelf.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cincinnati Bengals (#RuleTheJungle)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Well done Bengals! Last year’s new hashtag is 100% better than SeizeTheDey, glad to see it’s back. It makes sense and brings back memories of the glory days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seattle Seahawks (#Seahawks)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Team name always work, especially a cool name like #Seahawks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Angeles Rams (#RamsHouse)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Stupid\u2026 especially for team that doesn\u2019t give a crap about where they\u2019re from.  #LARams is another good option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland Browns (#Browns)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Browns have the best twitter fanbase in the NFL.  If you want more followers jump into the #Browns hashtag.  Don\u2019t forget about #DawgPound and maybe even give #brownstwitter a try.  Thanks to @Jessy Marie<\/a> for setting me straight on the correct emoji. New Orleans Saints (#Saints)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Solid.  You should also throw down a #WhoDat.   With Brees gone, we could see the return of the #Aints <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pittsburgh Steelers (#HereWeGo)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Battle cries and hashtags always work.   Great fanbase, stans and haters\u2026 lots of twitter action.  You can also find a crowd using #Steelers & #SteelersNation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detroit Lions (#OnePride)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m torn on #OnePride.  It\u2019s creative and easy to remember, but something bugs me\u2026 actually I like it.  Great uniforms, great coach, great Hard Knocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Houston Texans (#WeAreTexans)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Gag\u2026 c\u2019mon Houston.  Another tough year to be a Texans fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dallas Cowboys (#DallasCowboys)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s good strictly from a practical standpoint.  You can also find many fans using #CowboysNation or even #CowboysFam.   Dallas has a huge Twitter following which you can tap into.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Angeles Chargers (#BoltUp)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Charger fans underperform as a Twitter fan base, but they do have one of the better hashtags going… #BoltUp is pretty cool and the most likely place to find the leftover San Diego Chargers fan base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFL Hashtag Strategy for Max Engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m a small account and realize I won’t get added reach simply throwing in a popular hashtag on game-day tweets. But… you can get a big boost with some extra preparation. Here’s my strategy for using NFL hashtags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFL Hashtag Basics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before my strategy here’s a quick rundown if you’re not familiar with popular NFL hashtags. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game Matchups<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Each game will have it’s own hashtag. Getting the team order is very important! <\/p>\n\n\n

Get the order right… or you’re tweeting about a game in past.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

  1. Use city\/state abbreviations. For example… DAL for Dallas or AZ for Arizona.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The visiting team starts the hashtag.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. “vs” goes in between the cities\/states.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. The home team finishes the hashtag.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    These are very popular on game-day as tons of people get updates by clicking on the hashtag to see what’s happening. Twitter will default you to a list of top results for the particular hashtag, which is great if you’re in the top 2 or 3, not so much otherwise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
