NFL Picks Pro Week 3 Results

September 27, 2011 in NFL Picks Pro - Results

I wrote about parity in the Premium Picks and that’s what we saw this week.  Unfortunately, I was on the opposite side of a three teams that decided to come to life this week and was fortunate to escape with a push out of the Lions.  Monday Night’s free picks turned out much better and rescued me from a tough week of answering questions.

I don’t buy into Dallas and particularly Tony Romo.  I’ve got a considerable investment in Dallas under 9 wins for the season and still feel good about it… Romo used up a lot of karma last night.

  • Dallas vs Washington Under 44.5 (Free) W write-up
  • Washington +3/Under 44.5 Parlay (Free) W write-up
  • K.Brooking solo+assisted tackles un 6 (-115) (Free) W write-up
  • L.Fletcher solo+assisted tackles ov 8½ (+100) (Free) Lwrite-up
  • Detroit (-3) at Minnesota Push
  • Pittsburgh (-11) at Indianapolis L
  • Arizona (-3) at Seattle L

Monday Night Free Picks – Cowboys vs Redskins

September 26, 2011 in Free Picks

The Dallas injury report is getting all the attention this week, but I think the inexperience of the Cowboy’s O-line will be a major factor in the outcome. Obviously Dallas needs to protect Romo and I suspect we’ll see a very conservative passing attack from Garrett. Dallas rushing attack has been terrible so far and unless there’s a major improvement (unlikely), I don’t see any reason why the Skins can’t keep the score down.

The most likely scenario, in my opinion, is a low scoring (by 2011 standards) game that gets decided late. So.. I like Under 44.5. I think this is a good opportunity to tie together a parlay too Under 44.5 + Washington +3.

Finally a game with multiple tackle props to choose from… Lines from Sportbet

K.Brooking solo+assisted tackles un 6 (-115)
This one looks too good to be true. Brooking’s snap count has decreased significantly this year as Sean Lee has emerged. I’ve said it a hundred times… betting tackle props is all about how many opportunities you get and if Brooking is only on the field for 25 snaps it will be tough to convert 7 tackles. Even as a full time player in 2010 Brooking didn’t go over 6 50% of the games. Tonight’s best bet.

S.Lee solo+assisted tackles ov/un 7
Hmmm… Lee projects out around 10 tackles and he should cover 7, but -125 (even money is a fair price) is too pricey for me. I’d actually take a stab at the under if it shoots up to +130ish. Lee’s been great this year, but the game dynamics might limit his opportunities.

L.Fletcher solo+assisted tackles ov 8½ (+100)
Some people are saying Fletcher has lost it due to his slow start, but he’s not had the opportunities in Weeks 1 & 2. Fletcher had 11 tackles in both games against Dallas last year, who also allowed Willis a huge game last week. If Fletcher has anything left, this will be a good game to pad his stats. I’m betting on him to come through tonight.

G.Sensabaugh solo+assisted tackles ov/un 5½
I’m no fan of Sensabaugh but he’s one of the few healthy guys in the Dallas secondary and he’ll be on the field for every snap. That doesn’t mean he’ll have a monster game but if his price slides up to +100 or more it’s worth a bet.

NFL Early Season Surprises

September 21, 2011 in Uncategorized

Fred Jackson

The 2011 NFL season is just getting starting but you should already be adjusting your thoughts if you want to have a profitable year.  The general public is slow to react and that gives you/us an opportunity to grab some value in the middle part of the NFL season. Here’s a few things to think about…

  1. Offensive number are WAY up, which goes against EVERYONE’S early season predictions.  It’s common knowledge that defenses start off the season with an advantage, but with no OTA’s this year experts assumed we’d see a bunch of 13-10 games in weeks 1 & 2.  And… the new kickoff rule was supposed to be an offensive killer.  Instead we got 172 TDs and almost 16,000 yards of passing, both NFL records.   Seemingly, half the QBs in the league are on pace to crush Marino’s all time record for passing yardage.   If you’re playing totals or props this is a very important development.  Vegas has already made the adjustments, now how are you going to beat them?
  2. The Lions are hot. They were one of the trendy picks due to Stafford and Megatron starting the season healthy, but they also have serious talent on the defensive side.  It’s probably a good idea to jump on the Lion’s moneytrain until the spreads get out of hand.  Be careful though, there’s always a couple early season teams that catch fire only to go down in flames as the season ends.  A healthy, improving defensive will be the key to Detroit’s success.
  3. Obviously, Indianapolis is done.  Until they show signs of putting up a fight I’d look to beat them.
  4. I usually wait until week 3 before forming any conclusions, but I think it’s safe to say St Louis, Minnesota, and Seattle are terrible.   It’s hard to imagine any justifiable reason to bet them under any circumstance.
  5. Green Bay and New England are good (hardly a surprise.)  Maybe there will be others, we’ll see.

Monday Night Free Picks – Giants vs Rams

September 19, 2011 in Free Picks

Tonight’s game between the Rams and Giants -8  is a tough one for handicappers, I’m not sure we learned anything about either team in week 1 and there a few injuries to consider.  I think Sam Bradford is the key to the game.  IF he’s healthy St Louis will resort to it’s passing attack exclusively since Jackson is probably out.  I’m usually not a fan of pass heavy attacks, but the Giants secondary is terrible and Bradford’s short passing attack should be able to beat the pass rush.  Considering the Giants conservative offense will likely keep the Rams in the game, I think a shot at +280 on the Rams is a pretty good play.  Personally, I’m going  to skip playing the sides and go with a prop. Betting lines from 5Dimes.

J.Laurinaitis solo+assists tackles OVER 6½ (-130)
JLau was over 7 in 10 of 16 games last year and he projects out at 11 tonight.  For the new subscribers/readers, betting tackle props is heavily dependent on the defensive scheme and how many tackle opportunities are available.  Against the Giants JLau should have plenty of chances and he’s proven to be one of the more talented young LBs in the league, so I don’t mind laying the -130 and watching him cover the number by halftime. Tonight’s best play.

A.Rolle solo+assisted tackles ov/un 5½
5½ is a pretty good number for Antrel Rolle, unless you get a price of +130 or more it’s probably not worth betting.  If you got him going (or against) tonight in FF and HAVE to play him… I’d lean towards the under.  Kenny Phillips will most likely be in the box more tonight which will allow Rolle some freedom to roam and look for big plays.

NFL Picks Pro Week 2 Results

September 19, 2011 in NFL Picks Pro - Results

Ok, NFL Week 2 is almost over and we’re already learning a few things about what’s what this season.  Obviously, the Chiefs are not the same squad that surprised everyone last year and it looks like the Raiders will continue to build from last year.  Dallas came thru with a huge win, but the injuries are mounting up fast.  Here’s how the premium picks turned out yesterday.

NFL Week 2

  • GREEN BAY (-9.5) at CAROLINA Loss
  • DETROIT (-7.5) vs. KANSAS CITY Win
  • TAMPA BAY (+3) at MINNESOTA Win

Cam Newton and the Panthers got off to a great start against the Pack and spoiled a perfect day by holding on for a cover.  I haven’t seen the game yet, so I hold off on judging Carolina, but they’re certainly more fiesty than last season.  Detroit had the game covered before kick-off which is always nice, especially when Tampa was fooling around all day with an inferior Minnesota squad.

NFL Picks Pro Week 1 Results

September 15, 2011 in NFL Picks Pro - Results

Sorry about the delay in updating the website.  Unfortunately, I won’t have access to a “real” computer until Saturday night so I’ll post an update here.  I’ll have the premium picks emailed on Friday night.  Week 1 had a few surprises and I missed big-time on the Chiefs, who got steamrolled by the Bills… wow!

Week 1

  • KANSAS CITY (-6) vs. BUFFALO Loss
  • HOUSTON (-8) vs. INDIANAPOLIS Win
  • NEW YORK JETS (-5.5) vs DALLAS Loss
  • ARIZONA (-7) vs. CAROLINA Push

Kansas City HAS to be worried, that was a bad loss.  My biggest concern is their inability to get into their most effective gameplan offensively, if they don’t get things sorted out quickly last year will prove nothing more than a fluky season.   I’ll keep looking for ways to beat Dallas this year, they were lucky to be in position to pull off a big upset before reverting to what they really are.  Cam Newton was a huge shock to me, but we’ll see how he progresses and what’s up with the Cards pass defensive.

NFL Week 1 Teaser Options

September 9, 2011 in Teaser Betting

If your new to the site check out my teaser strategy article.  I’ll admit I didn’t invent this strategy, but it’s solid/logical thinking and it’s provided nice profits consistently each year.  They key is to stay patient and disciplined enough not to deviate from the numbers.  So here’s the options we’re looking at in week 1…

2 Teamer Candidates

  • Pittsburgh +1.5 to +7.5
  • Chicago +2.5 to +8.5
  • Washington +2.5 to +8.5
  • Arizona -8 to -2

3 Teamer Candidates

  • Pittsburgh +1.5 to +11.5
  • Chicago +2.5 to +12.5
  • Washington +2.5 to +12.5
  • Tennessee +1 to +11

Out of all these options… Arizona is the only game that looks like a no brainer.  The Steelers and Ravens always play tight games so +7.5 looks pretty good too.  Unfortunately, the other games look like Week 1 guesses, so I’ll stick with just 1 play.  I’m going with Zona -2 & the Steeler +7.5.

Packer vs Saints 2011 Season Opener

September 8, 2011 in Free Picks

Here we go…

Finally, the Obama jobs speech the Saints travel into Green Bay to kick off the 2011 season.  Here’s my standard early season disclaimer:  Take it easy early on.  It’s a long season and you don’t want to damage your bankroll based on preseason action and last year’s reputations.  That being said, everyone HAS to have some action on tonight’s game.

I like the Packers -4.5.  Going into Lambeau is always a tough assignment, but on opening night to face the Super Bowl champs… c’mon.  Obviously all the attention is on the two QB’s but GB’s defense might turn into the league’s best unit, which should be the difference tonight.  Trying to handicap these two rushing attacks is impossible, so you have to focus on how they’ll match up passing/pass defending.  New Orleans is so-so defending the pass and they’ll blitz to create pressure, which will also provide opportunities for Rodgers to expose downfield.   On the other side, GB can create lots of pressure from the front which also helps their ball-hawking secondary.

Lance Moore is the only significant player missing from either side.

NFL Picks Pro 2011 Full Season Offer

September 7, 2011 in NFL Picks Premium

OK… we are only a day away from the new NFL season.  I am looking forward to another good year of betting (fingers crossed) and have decided to give everyone the option of purchasing the full season (playoffs included) for $100.  If you’re new to my service the weekly picks are usually $10 for 3-4 games per week, so the full season’s package is about a 50% savings.

I know purchasing a full season is not for everyone so nothing will change from the previous years.  You will still get free weekly selections and props bets for the NFL’s featured games along with the option to purchase the “premium picks,” which will be monitored at cappers watchdog.

We went on a major roll at the end of last season and earned the Top % Award for January at Capper’s Watchdog to top off a solid season of 83-37 (+46.60 units).  Hopefully we’ll continue the run starting Thursday night.
